Udupi: Gang burgled house as family goes for pilgrimage

Udupi:  A gang broke into a house in Vinayaka Nagara in Kumbashi village and escaped with cash and other valuables when the family members were away on a pilgrimage.

According to sources, the theft came to light when the house owner Manjunatha Jogi and his family returned home on August 5 after visiting Pandarapura and Shirdi Temple.

The family left for the pilgrimage on July 29, stated the complaint filed at Kundapur Police Station. When the family returned home, they found that the backdoor of the house had been broken and their cupboard was ransacked.

According to the complaint, a total of Rs 13,500 in cash and a total of 1.20 lakh rupees worth of gold jewellery, including an 8 gm bracelet, a 12 gm chain, and two 7 gm rings, were stolen.

Further investigation is on.
