Udupi: The State Government has announced good news for the children of Government schools. Like every year, students don’t have to wait like a bird till the Dussehra holiday for school uniforms. Uniforms will be in the hands of children before the start of the next academic year (2023-24). There will also be a new textbook.

Usually, even though the educational activity has started, the children do not have access to uniforms and textbooks. The Department of School, Education and Literacy has already issued a work order for uniforms for Government school children and in some places the process of supply has also started.

There are 44,78,942 children in Government schools including 21,99,735 boys and 22,79,207 girls, in classes 1 to 10 across the State. Uniforms will be supplied by Karnataka Handloom Development Corporation for children of Kalaburagi Division, Karnataka Textile Infrastructure Development Corporation and Kanchan India Limited for children of Belagavi Division, Kanchan India Limited for children of Mysuru and Bengaluru Divisions. Uniforms will be supplied to girls of classes 8 to 10 in all departments from Mafatlal Industries. The contracted firms will supply to the Block Education Officer (BEO) offices in all the Districts. From there the uniform will go to respective schools.
