Udupi: Man duped by fake FASTag officer

Udupi: There has been an incident of cheating as a man was duped of thousands of rupees on the pretext of being an officer.

When Francis Pius Furtado searched for a Paytm FASTag application on Google about the deactivation of his Paytm FASTag, he called the mobile number +918249255475 found on Paytm Help Support on Google and the person believed that he was an officer of paytm FASTag website and got the OTP that came to the mobile to get the paytm FASTag corrected.

A total of Rs. 99,997 in instalments of Rs. 49,000, Rs. 19,999, Rs. 19,998, Rs. 9,999, Rs. 9,999 and Rs. 1,000 were transferred online, respectively.

A case has been registered at Udupi CEN Police Station.
