Udupi: MGM College in the District which witnessed Hijab vs saffron shawl issue has reopened peacefully on Friday February 18 after gap of about 10 days.
As a precautionary measure the college gate was surrounded by Police force, and they were cautious regarding the entry of strangers into the college. Students who were to write their exams arrived as there was no permission for displaying any religious symbols inside the campus.
The situation was normal on Friday, said Additional Superintendent of Police Siddalingappa present at the venue to the mediapersons. The students were following the court order and there was no space for any confusion, he added.
The commotion in Udupi had reached a peak with many wearing hijab and saffron shawl, creating commotion inside the MGM College campus. Principal Dr. Devidas Naik had approached students, and convinced them not to get provoked by ‘outside elements’, and keep the discipline. As the students dis not listen to the Principal, he had declared holidays for an indefinite period.
