Udupi: ‘Proposal submitted to issue caste certificates to all’

Udupi: Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission Chairman K. Jayaprakash Hegde has said that a proposal has been submitted to the Government to issue caste certificates to all from now on.

At present, there is a system of issuing caste certificates only to those who have reservation in the State. As a result, the general category and the community are not able to get various privileges. A special meeting has been held in this regard with the concerned including Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary. The Government will think about it, he said while inaugurating the new Mini Vidhana Soudha at Kaup.

There is also a proposal to allow caste to be mentioned in the application while enrolling children in schools, he said and added that in future, the same certificate will complement all the records of the students.
