Udupi: A seven-year-old girl, who died after swallowing chocolate along with its wrapper suffered a cardiac arrest and has not choke to death as it was earlier assumed.

The deceased identified as Samanvi, a Class II student of an English medium school in Byndoor of the District had collapsed to death while waiting to board the school bus on July 20. She had the swallowed the chocolate without removing the wrapper and hence Byndoor Police had then suspected the girl could have died from the wrapper getting stuck in her throat.

However, now Byndoor Police Station personnel has said that the postmortem report states the girl died owing to cardiac arrest. As her family too was subjected to medical tests, it came into light that they have heart-related issues and hence it is a genetic problem. The report from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) too has confirmed that chocolate wrapper has not caused the girl’s death. Hence Police now has closed the case.
