Udupi: Manipal Police have arrested two thieves in connection with the theft of gold ornaments worth Rs. 4 Lakh kept in a vanity bag of a woman at Indrali Railway Station on the afternoon of Tuesday March 14.

The arrested thieves have been identified as 41-year-old Lalitha Bovi and 64-year-old Susheelamma Bovi, residents of Hanumanthanagar in Bhadravathi Taluk. Puneet Vasanth Hegde, a resident of Kuttaru village in Kaup Taluk, boarded an express train at Indrali Railway Station on the afternoon of Tuesday with his family to go to Mumbai. Later, when he sat in the seat and looked at the bag, he found that the jewellery had been stolen.

A case was registered at the Manipal Police Station in this regard. Police, in coordination with the Railway Police, checked the CCTV footage and managed to trace the accused within 8 hours. The Police have recovered jewellery worth Rs 4.03 Lakh from the accused.
