Udupi: Despite being careful as far as online business is concerned, the thieves have mastered the art of tricking people in different ways. Between January and February this year, the District recorded eight cases and Rs. 8,55,165 has been duped.
The amount has gone to the fraudsters and the Police are investigating the case.
Police sources said that it has come to light in these cases that online fraudsters are using tactics such as sending unknown links, collecting information on the pretext of KYC update, stealing money by sending an OTP number, cheating on the pretext of a gift, transferring money through the lure of online job, misappropriating money and asking them to repay it again.
