Udupi: Torrential rains have been lashing the District for the past one week.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kurma Rao M. has declared holiday for all educational institutions in the District on Friday July 8 and Saturday July 9.

According to the DC’s order, a holiday has been declared for all private and public schools, colleges, Anganwadi and Degree colleges on Friday and Saturday. The IMD has issued Red Alert for the next two days.

It seems like there is no respite to citizens from the pouring skies, water-filled roads, swelling water bodies and unending traffic woes.

Meanwhile, Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu District Deputy Commissioners have declared two-day holiday for educational institutions on Friday and Saturday whereas Uttara Kannada District Deputy Commissioner has declared a holiday on Friday.
