Udupi: Udupi Utsav, the mega amusement and exhibition event was inaugurated at Royal Garden grounds on Friday, November 25 by Udupi City Municipal Council President Meenakshi Bannanje.
Amidst an array of stalls including eatables to handloom products, from gaming events to readymade garments, a ‘Selfie Gallery’ has been pulling the crowd with young and old thronging the kiosk alike. People can click selfies with eminent personalities like Mother Teresa, APJ Abdul Kalam, Barack Obama, Bruce Lee among others!
The mega exhibition and amusement section will be open from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. daily. The entry fee to the utsav is Rs. 40 per person which there is no entry fee for the children up to three years. More than 100 stalls have been put up at the venue of the exhibition which contains home use products, handloom products, electronic items, ready made garments, decorative items and many more. The food items also available and food court has been set up at venue. Meanwhile there are various items for the children in the amusement area which including dragon train, giant wheel, boating, electronic train, dragon-slide, zig zag etc.
Speaking to media persons, CMC Commissioner Manjunathaiah said that last year Udupi CMC made a profit of Rs. 13 lakhs, especially because the event was held around Paryaya festival. The amount was used for providing facilities at Burns Ward at the District Government Hospital, Ajjarkad.
“This year also we are expecting profit of Rs. 15 lakhs which will be used for some other welfare activity. We will also be holding a Beach Utsav at Malpe Beach, dates of which is yet to be finalised. This time we want to extend two days of Beach Utsav to three days and also hold a seafood festival,” he siad.
