Karkala: Following demonetisation, a youth in a bid to exchange the spiked currency was murdered by a trio at Ninjoor in Palli village limits of Karkala. However, the murder came to light only a month after it occurred.
Mansur Ali, aged 37, resident of Bhadravati is the deceased.
Mohammad Fayaz aged 53, resident of Bhadravati and brothers Prashanth Ballal, aged 47 and Pramod Ballal aged 44 are acccused in the crime. Kaisar Khan of Bhadravati is the kingpin of the racket.
It is said that he had borrowed Rs 2 lakhs from Mohammad Fayaz who was repeatedly forcing Kaisar Khan to return the loan amount. In the meantime, after the government imposed note ban, Kaisar started a network to convert black money into white and contacted Mansoor Ali through a middleman and kept Fayaz informed of the developments. He asked Fayaz to arrange a meeting point to collect the amount from Mansoor Ali. Mohammad Fayaz, who was employed in Bengaluru got in touch with Pramod Ballal, a real estate agent in Bengaluru and Prashanth Ballal of Palli village in Karkala.
Accordingly on November 11, Mohamamd Fayaz, Kaisar Khan and Mansoor Ali arrived in Karkala. Fayaz occupies a room in Anathshayana lodge where as the other two take a room in Suhag lodge to spend the night on November 11.
As per plans the trio reached a residence in Ninjoor but Manzoor Ali failed to carry the cash as the deal was not struck. Convinced by the assurances, next day Manzoor arrived at the same house and Pramod and Prashanth tormented him and assaulted him with clubs. Sensing problems Mazoor Ali tried to escape, but fails. The assailants club him to death and then swiftly bury the body.
Police team led by Sub inspector Ravi succeeded in nabbing the trio under the guidance of Circle inspector Antony John.
The accused in the murder of Mansoor Ali were produced in the JMFC court at Karkala and later handed over to judicial custody.
In the mean time one more person Vinay gowda is absconding with no mention of Kaisar Khan, the person responsible for all happenings.
