Karwar: District Students’ Union President Raghu Naik said that the padayatra organised on Gandhi Jayanti day has been postponed temporarily due to the Government’s in-principle approval for the construction of a super specialty hospital.
Addressing a press conference at the District Press Club here, he said that they are planning to take out a padayatra from Karwar to Honnavar demanding the construction of a super specialty hospital in the District. I had to go to the house of the victim in the ambulance accident at the toll plaza. However, the padayatra has been postponed as the Government gave its in-principle approval in the session, he said.
“Without a hospital, people are criticising the Government, they’re cursing. Even now, if the Government neglects, it will have an adverse impact on the elections. People will take to the streets and fight,” he said.
We had organised a padayatra from Karwar to Vathara in Honnavara by various organisations demanding the sanction of a super specialty hospital for the District. But in the House all the MLAs of the District had mentioned about the hospital. Later, the Health Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar held a meeting and announced in the House that a super specialty hospital would be provided to the District.
Karwar Municipal Council Members Nanda Naik, Sripada Naik, Chandrakant Naik, Pranav Naik, Shankar Gunagi, Charan Naik, Ganesh Kolankar and Anil Kochrekar were present.
