
Dharwad Police Honours Retired Officers on Flag Day
Dharwad observed Police Flag Day on Wednesday with a tribute to retired police personnel who dedicated their lives to service. At a special parade held at the District Armed Reserve ground, 15 retired officers from various ranks were felicitated by Superintendent of Police (SP) Gopal M Byakod.
Retired Lokayukta SP Shankar Ragi, the event’s chief guest, took the ceremonial salute from police platoons. In his speech, Ragi described police service as a symbol of bravery, discipline, and sacrifice, calling it a privilege to serve in law enforcement.
He also stressed the importance of family well-being, urging police personnel to prioritize their loved ones’ health and education, as they are the ones who support officers post-retirement.
SP Gopal Byakod highlighted that recognizing retired officers’ contributions would motivate current personnel to perform better. He also detailed various initiatives undertaken for police welfare, reinforcing the commitment to their well-being.
