Kalaburagi: Four individuals from Halakarti village became severely ill and were hospitalized in a private facility in Kalaburagi after being exposed to pesticides while spraying them on a cotton crop at Tarakaspet village in Wadi taluk. This occurred five days after the pesticide exposure incident.
The farmers are Sunil Jadhav (34), Anil Jadhav (22), Kumar Papanna (30), and Khemu Rathod (32). They applied a mixture of monocrotophos and the pesticide called Lancer Gold to their crops and then returned home to manage the crop’s health. In the evening, they experienced minor side effects, including dizziness and vomiting.
The initial problem arose when the affected individual initially considered heading to Kalaburagi the following day after receiving treatment at a local hospital. However, due to a decline in their health and the worsening of their condition, they were admitted to a private hospital in Kalaburagi on Friday morning. Unfortunately, their health has been deteriorating rapidly, causing significant concern among their family members.
Although necessary precautions were observed during the pesticide spraying, four individuals are currently fighting for their lives as a result of the toxic pesticide exposure. Local leader Govind Jadhav expressed suspicions regarding the pesticide and called for a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
