H D Kote: After five years Hebballa dam is almost full, but as the water neared its brim, very late, it has not benefited the farmers in any kind.
Hebballa river is spread over 5.5 thousand acres of land which is a tributary of Kabini river in the taluk.
It would have helped farmers if the river was full much earlier. Due to this farmers have left the land without sowing.
For paddy cultivation first week of July and August is the best time. Even though there was rain in the taluk for three months the reservoir was not full. So now the farmers are saying that if it was full on time, they could have cultivated.
However, as the dam is full many localities and tourists are visiting the place.
