Hubballi: Taking head on the BJP leaders, MLC and former minister Basavaraj Horatti has criticised that the BJP’s contribution for the development of North Karnataka region was zero.
Speaking to reporters here on Monday, Horatti said former CM Jagadish Shetter had failed to bring a single big project for the twin cities and that the JD(s) leaders need not learn morality lessons from him.
Instead of accusing others, the BJP leaders must introspect on the contributions of their party to the development of the region, he commented.
Taking exception to the remarks made by Shettar that JD(s) was B team of Congress, Horati said if he did not understand that all are one team when it came to Mahadayi and other issues related to the State’s land and water, people would teach him a lesson in the coming days.
“BJP leaders have failed to convince Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the need for his intervention in Mahadayi dispute. They are directly responsible for Mahadayi dispute getting more complex, though Congress and JD(S) have a clear stand demanding the prime minister’s intervention to resolve the dispute”, he retorted adding that BJP leaders were now afraid, as State JD(S) President H D Kumaraswamy now has a residence in Hubballi.
“JD(S) is a strong regional party and it has never played politics in issues related to the interests of the State. Karnataka State Law University was established in Hubballi, High Court building was constructed in Dharwad and Legislature’s session was conducted in Belagavi, when Kumaraswamy was the chief minister, Horatti recalled.
Navalgund MLA N H Konaraddi also spoke.
