Hubballi: Kasabapete police have nabbed two persons who were involved in cricket betting during 3rd ODI match between India and South Africa on Sunday October 18.
The betting was carried out in a house in Ambedkar colony in Chennapete. During the police raid it was revealed that people who were involved in betting, cheated the public by not giving their money due to them, soon after the match.
Yusuf Jalagar from Hubballi and Somanath Valvekar from Keshwapura have been detained. They have seized cash Rs 5,600, two mobiles and one TV set. A case has been registered at the Kasabapete police station.
Police seize 87,24,000 in various cases
In the last one and half months police have managed to seize valubales worth Rs 87,24,000 in various cases, said Hubballi-Dharwad police commssioner Panduranga Rane. In Keshwapura police station 183 grams of gold and 4,09,000 cash has been recovered in 4 cases.
In Ashok Nagar station, a car worth 75,000 has been seized. In Navanagar station 6 cases have been cracked and 94.5 grams of gold and 2,40,000 cash has been recovered. In Old Hubballi station, Rs 80 lakhs of hawala money which was carried illegally was also recovered, he said.
Those who have not followed traffic norms where booked and Rs: 8,48,600 fine has been imposed in 5,992 cases. 243 cases have been registered under drunken driving and Rs 13,07,800 fined has been imposed, he said.
