Hubballi: Congress Legislature Party leader Siddaramaiah on Saturday September 10 said that the BJP government was utilising corrupt money to hold the Janaspandana rally. According to him, responding to the misery of those who are severely affected by the State’s flooding would have been the real janaspandana (connecting with people).
Farmers have lost crops on seven lakh hectares, yet no compensation has been given. Bengaluru had flooding on the roads and flooding inside of houses. The government has the least concern for the people and their problems. “Will the people approve of the rally amid these miseries,” he asked.
Stating that Janaspanadana is in response to his birthday celebration (Siddaramotsava), he claimed that while BJP leaders were exploiting the government machinery and corrupt money to hold their rally, people participated in and attended his event voluntarily. He added that it was inappropriate to host the rally right after Minister Umesh Katti’s death.
He slammed the government for not making any effort to mitigate the misery of flood-affected people and claimed the minister in charge of the district had not visited to the affected areas.
Encroachments were cleared, Rajakaluves were cleaned, and lakes were desilted under the Congress government, but the present government has stopped all of these projects, he added.
“It is responsible for the deteriorating situation, especially in Bengaluru,” said Siddu. He responded to the BJP’s claims that land in Bengaluru’s Arkavathy Layout had been denotified by saying, “I am not afraid of the BJP government nor its leaders. Why has the government been so quiet lately?”
