Hubballi: Three youth who had gone swimming on the evening of Sunday January 1 reportedly drowned in the Tungabhadra river in the Mudenoor village of Ranebennur Taluk on Monday. The Halagere police have filed a case and launched a search for the trio, which was called off on Monday due to poor light. The rescue operation will resume on Tuesday morning.
The trio have been identified as Prem Bora (25) from Nepal, Naveen Kurugounda (20) and Vikas Patil (20), residents of Mudenoor village.
According to villagers, five youth went swimming in the river and one of them started drowning. Two of his friends tried to save him by jumping into the river, but they were unable to come out.
