Hubballi: The toy train derailed during its inaugural run at Gandhi Park here on Saturday April 29.
Former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and other leaders were onboard. No casualties were reported.
As per sources, the three-coach train toy train is suspected to be overloaded, which is said to be the reason behind the mishap. The renovation of Mahatma Gandi Park and Indira Glass House, and toy train were accomplished using Rs. 25 Crore. In Rs. 4.2 Crore worth toy train, the coaches were redesigned and tracks replaced.
The operators said that each coach can carry a maximum of six children. But on the day of inaugural, the strength exceeded.
Meanwhile, Minister Pralhad Joshi advised operators to give more importance to safety and security.
