Hubballi: CID sleuths grilled yet another Shri Ram Sene leader Basavaraj Boodihal of Pancharapola, for nearly for one hour, today, September 25, in connection with the recent killing of rationalist MM Kalburgi.

No progress in Kalburgi's killing; son to meet CM-1Every year, Sri Ram Sene reportedly trains thousands of youth. The CID sleuths are now making an attempt to collect information from those who have been trained. They have also collected information as to where they get their weapons from, during the training.

During the questioning, it has been revealed that Boodihal has served as the Sri Ram Sene North province president.

Prof Kalburgi, earlier, received death threats from the head of the right-wing group for allegedly insulting the Hindu religion.

Prasad Attavar, reportedly the former convenor of Sri Ram Sene, was arrested for allegedly making derogatory comments on social media after the murder of Kannada scholar MM Kalburgi. This was the first arrest in the brutal murder case of Kalburgi who was shot dead, on Sunday, by two miscreants at his residence.

Bhuvith Shetty, Bajrang Dal Convenor from Bantwal was also arrested for his controversial tweet against Kalburgi.

However, the Hindu outfit Sri Ram Sene has refused to accept any of the allegations labelled against the group, of being involved in MM Kalburgi’s murder.

The group claims to be deliberately targeted by leftist intellectuals, since they raise their voice against those who defame the religion.

In respect to the Kalburgi case, the social outfit maintains that it is not involved in his assassination, though they repeatedly protested against his writings against Hinduism.

The police have reportedly been probing the case in different angles – property disputes within the family, professional jealousy, and possible action by violent pro-Kannada and pro-Hindutva groups – but have not yielded any results.
