Hubballi: Condemning the state government’s delay in submitting an appeal over the Kalasa Banduri project, Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) and Hasiru Sene activists gheraoed Minister for Water Resources M.B. Patil here on Sunday.
The minister who arrived at Hubballi airport was gheroaed and the protesters demanded that the government appeal to the tribunal at the earliest. Farmers loans should be waived and they should provide crop insurance, they also demanded.
Speaking on the occasion M B Patil said, “We have discussed with senior counsel Fali S. Nariman, who is representing the State in the Krishna and Cauvery water disputes. He has agreed to give exclusive information on the project. Even irrigation experts will be consulted. We should take account the pros and cons of interim order before appealing, he said.
