Dharwad: There appears to be a link between the murders of rationalists Govind Pansare and MM Kalburgi.

According to sources, the Karnataka CID team probing the Kalburgi murder case visited Sangli in Maharashtra to get details on the Pansare case.

The team of Karnataka CID is also expected to question Pansare murder suspect Gaikwad, who was, on Wednesday, sent to police custody till September 22.

Meanwhile, two more people were detained in connection with Pansare killing.

Pansare was gunned down outside his home in Kolhapur on February 16. Kalburgi was killed under similar circumstances at his residence in August.

Earlier, on Tuesday, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had announced Rs five lakh to those who could provide clues about the murder of noted Kannada progressive writer and scholar MM Kalburgi.

The identities of the informants would be kept secret, he told reporters after meeting the families of Narendra Dabholkar and Govind Pansare, the rationalists who were killed in Maharashtra, and Kalburgi, who was shot dead at Dharward in Karnataka on August 30.
