New police stations proposed for Hubballi-Dharwad

Hubballi: Three new police stations have been proposed to be set up in Hubballi and Dharwad, keeping in mind the increasing population and development needs of the twin cities, said Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy.

Speaking to reporters after holding a review meeting of the law and order situation, Reddy said that the state government would look into the issue and take steps to meet the demand.

He further said, in regard to the HD-Track and traffic improvement, he would direct the police officials to pursue the case to get the required funds sanctioned.

He also said that the Deputy Commissioner of Dharwad had been asked to allot land required for holding joint police parades between the two cities.

Reddy’s present tour is aimed at reviewing the law and order situation in the state while also issuing directions to further strengthen the policing system.

While at the review meeting, he had directed the Police Commissioner to take strong action against rowdy elements and those repeatedly indulging in anti-social and illegal activites.

Regarding the vacancies for the posts of senior police officials in the Hyderabad-Karnataka region, Additional Director-General of Police Alok Mohan said that they would be filled as per procedure. He also clarified that District Crime Records Bureau (DCRB) would also be set up in a phased manner.

The Home Minister also promised that the murder of journalist Gauri Lankesh would be solved soon.
