Ballari: In M. Sugur Village since last week, the monkey has been infested with the elderly, school children and shop owners, causing a lot of trouble and took away the sleep of the people and has also caused serious injuries to the head, hands and neck of the people.
More than 40 people, including students and elderly people from Sugur, Doddaraja Camp, Itagi and Veerapura Villages, have been bitten. An elderly man from Doddaraja Camp was bitten severely on the head region and seriously injured. He has now 8 to 10 stitches on his head.
Many students of Sugur School were severely injured in the bite on their hands. Apart from this, it also entered the Kirana shop in the Village and has destroyed many snacks. This has created an atmosphere of fear among the people of the village.
For the past 3 to 4 days, officials of the Gram Panchayat, Revenue Department and Forest Department have been trying hard to put the monkey in the cage and have been running around in the Village without falling into the cage. Even today, the operation to catch the monkey is going on in full swing. Not only the officials but also the general public have tried to catch the monkey by putting sleeping pills in the snacks, but to no avail. The monkey is causing pain to the public and officials of the village.
This makes it difficult for people to move on the village road. Another student was seriously bitten and is undergoing treatment at VIMS, Bellari. With this incident students are also afraid to come to school.
Though the Gram Panchayat staff had left the monkey from this village to different villages, it has returned to Sugur Village. It remains to be seen how the authorities will capture the monkey, which is a bane to the students and the general public, and thus maintain the peace of the people.
