Ballari: Recently, a large number of farmers in Kurugodu Taluk of the District gheraoed the Tahasildar’s Office and staged a protest against the shops which were selling their substandard pesticide at a higher rate. As a result, a meeting of farmers and fertiliser shop owners was held at the Taluk Office in the presence of Taluk Agriculture Officer Yogish, Horticulture Taluk Officer Dayananda, Agriculture Department Officials and Tahasildar K. Raghavendra Rao.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Director of Agriculture Chandrashekar said that the inconvenience caused to the farmers after the fake manure and drug trials were sprayed in the fields in many areas of the District was discussed in detail. Also, from now onwards, the dealers in the Taluk will have to inform the farmers about the many pesticides distributed to the farmers while selling the same, he said.
“The farmers mostly do not know at any point of time whether it is a disease or something else that has plagued their crops, which you should keep in mind and distribute it, he informed.
