Ballari: Vijayanagar BJP MLA Anand Singh has announced that he is not an aspirant of any portfolio in the Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa-led BJP government and that he was not greedy for power.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, December 25 he said, “I will not pressurize CM BSY to give me portfolio in his Cabinet. My goal is to only develop my constituency. Sanctioning of necessary funds towards the development of my constituency is the only thing that I expect from BSY government.”
“Earlier governments had not adhered to any demands of the people of the constituency. When H D Kumaraswamy was the chief minister in the 14-month Congress-Janata Dal (S) coalition government, he had not responded promptly and had not sanctioned necessary funds. This became the main reason for me to quit the Congress”, he added.
It can be recalled that Anand Singh was one among the 17 MLAs who had tendered their resignation claiming that the conduct of the coalition government was disheartening. He had later, contested the by-election from the Vijayanagar Constituency with the BJP ticket and won against Venkatrao Ghorpade from Congress and NM Nabi from JD(S).
