Ballari: Couple of organisations joined hands together and demanded extension of Hampi Festival for three days.

It may be recalled that the state government has decided to hold the famous Hampi Festival for one day, on November 13, due to the Corona pandemic.

However, on Sunday, organisations demanded that the festival must be celebrated for three days, as usual.

Members of Ballari Jilla Kalavidara Vedike, Nava Karnataka Yuva Shakti Sanghatane members took out a protest rally from Nagaruru Narayan Rao Park to Gadigi Chennappa Circle and shouted slogans against the state government and the district administration.

The angry protesters said that the government does not seem to know the glory of the Vijayanagar empire and also keeps neglecting the region.

“Stop this insult. There is no need to hold the festival for namesake. We want the government to hold the event for three days with all glory,” said a protester.

K Jagadeesh, one of the protesters said that the government has insulted the glory of northern Karnataka by slashing the number of days of the festival to just one day.

“If the government has no problem campaigning for the by-polls and conducting the election, why is it tendering lame excuse of Corona when it comes to conducting the festival here,” he questioned.
