Bidar: When BJP Worker Sunil Dhongre’s mobile phone rang on Sunday night little did he know that it was the call of death. In what appears to be the serial killings of BJP and Sangh Parivar activists, Dhongre (35) was found dead with multiple stab injuries at Sonal village in Aurad taluk in the wee hours of November 6.
With Sunil’s death coming following the brutal murder of RSS worker Rudresh in Bengaluru and mysterious death of BJP Yuva Morcha leader J Ravi at Periyapatna, the speculations and apprehensions of “systematic political murders” of BJP/right wing activists is gaining a new hue.
Dhongre’s body was found near the Government Primary School with multiple stab injuries in the intestine, face and other parts. He is survived by his wife, mother and three children.
Currently, the police is zeroing in on the phone call that Dhongre received at 10 pm on the fateful night that led him to the death trap near the school.
Dhongre was said to be an ardent follower of Aurad MLA Prabhu Chavan and was quite popular in the villages nearby. Landlord to 50 acres of agricultural property in Sonal, he was well to do, the police said.
MLA Chavan while consoling the bereaved family held Home Minister G Parameshwar’s “inefficiency” as squarely responsible for the “politically motivated attacks” on BJP and RSS activists in different parts of the state.
He has demanded a high-level probe into Dhongre’s murder. S P Prakash Nikam, Bhalki range DySP Ashok Kumar D S and other senior police officers visited the spot.
