Bidar: Opposition Leader Siddaramaiah said that “The State Government has no money, hence, the quantity of rice given to the poor has been reduced to 5 kgs.”
He was speaking at a public function in Bidar South Assembly constituency organised by the Congress as part of the Prajadhvani Yatra at Ganesh Maidan in the City.”The MLAs have not been able to dig even a single borewell. If the BJP Leaders had stopped looting, at least 10 kgs of rice could have been given to the poor,” he said.
“The BJP Government has not been able to build a house in three years. The Congress Government built 15 lakh houses in a span of five years. After the BJP came to power, it started giving ration rice and then reduced it to 5 kgs. I had also told Former Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa that 10 kgs of rice could have been given if the money was reduced,” he said.
“There is nothing wrong with what the Congress party has promised. Of the 162 promises made in 2013, 158 have been fulfilled. An additional 30 programmes have been offered. However, the BJP has not even fulfilled 60 promises out of 600. No one got good days,” he said.
“It was because of Mallikarjuna Kharge’s efforts that the 371J Amendment came into force. Many from Kalyana Karnataka became doctors and engineers,” he noted.
“The Congress had given Rs 1,500 Crore for the development of Kalyana Karnataka. Basavaraj Bommai promised to give Rs 3,000 but the money was not released. There are six aspirants in Bidar and eight in Bidar South Assembly constituency,” he said.
He appealed to the party workers to work hard for the victory of the candidate irrespective of who the party gives the ticket to.
