Bidar: In a shocking incident, Police Constable Chetan Singh of RPF allegedly opened fire on passengers aboard the Jaipur-Mumbai Central Superfast Express on Monday morning, resulting in the death of three people. One of the victims was identified as Saifuddin Muniruddin, a resident of Hameelapur, Bidar.
The tragic event took place around 5 AM when constable Chetan Singh, who was escorting the train, reportedly shot and killed Saifuddin Muniruddin, after which he targeted three other passengers in the same bogie. The train personnel tried to avert further casualties, but Chetan Singh was later found dead at the next station after he attempted to evade capture.
The incident has left the village in shock and mourning. The bodies of the victims have arrived and further investigation is underway.
RPF Inspector General (Western Railways), Praveen Sinha, expressed his regret over the incident, describing it as an impulsive act driven by minor anger. He stated that there was no major altercation leading to the shooting. However, in a brief moment of anger, the constable attacked his senior officer and subsequently opened fire on unsuspecting passengers.
The authorities are closely examining the situation to understand the motive behind the incident.
