Bidar: A student of Shaheen Pre-University College in Bidar not only qualified in the UG National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2020, but also secured the ninth All India Rank.

Karthik Reddy has topped in the state by bagging 710 out of 720 marks. He is also the only person in Karnataka to be included in the top 50 ranks.

The Hindu reports that Karthik wanted to be a doctor ever since he was in the 10th standard. He wants to study in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.

“I prepared for eight to 10 hours every day from class 11 onwards, and used the lockdown period to solve mock test papers every day,” the Hindu quoted him as saying.

This year, 89,359 candidates from Karnataka appeared for NEET 2020, 61.56 per cent of whom qualified. While this is a drop of 1.69 per cent from the previous year, the percentage of students who have qualified in the state is higher than the national average, which is of 56.44 per cent.
