Kalburgi: Thieves dug a grave and decamped with the gold placed on a corpse in a rare and strange incident that took place in Khajuri village of Aland taluk.
Premabhai Dage (75) died of illness few days ago. Since she did not have children, villagers buried the body and placed 50 grams gold owned by her on it.
Some people who were aware of the incident extracted the corpse from the grave and decamped with the gold, five days after burial. In the process, they left the grave open with the body exposed.
Relatives were awestruck when they found the exposed corpse this morning.
Aland police visited the spot to investigate further.
