Kalaburgi/Bengaluru: Primary and Secondary Education Minister Tanveer Sait has announced that model schools called ‘Karnataka Public Schools’ will be opened in all 760 hoblis of the state to give healthy competition to the private schools.
Addressing the media in Kalaburgi on Wednesday, he said that Government aims to provide education from pre-primary to pre-university under one shelter. Funds will be allocated for the purpose in next budget, he said.
“To control SSLC and PUC question paper leakage, Karnataka Secure Examination System Act (KSES) has been tabled in both the houses. A specific law will be implemented on the same as early as possible. Several steps have been taken to stop copying and malpractice in the examination. Direction has been given to the senior officers of the department to show improvement in the result,” he said.
“Around 36,000 schools in the state are in dilapidated condition. They will be destroyed and new buildings will be built. Around 31,000 schools should be renovated. More than 19,000 new rooms will be constructed. A total of Rs.566 crore has been earmarked for the purpose,” the Minister said.
“The process of appointing around 10,000 teachers to the higher secondary schools is under progress. The temporary list will be published by February 15. Transfers will be done through counselling in local-level. To find out the drop outs and observe the progress of children in academicals, a new programme called ‘Shikshana Kirana’ will be implemented,” he said.
Meanwhile, responding to the Mahadayi issue, he said that BJP should not mislead people and if they have done so then they should ask people to pardon them, he said. “Union Minister Ananth Kumar Hegade is playing with the feelings of people. If he really wants to change the Constitution, let him add the issue in party manifesto and face the election,” he challenged.
