Lorry-MUV collision: Eight dead, 14 injured

Kalaburagi: In a gruesome accident, eight people including two children and four women were killed on the spot and another 14 injured, in a head-on collision between a lorry and a multi-utility vehicle (MUV) near Doginala in Aland taluk on Tuesday, July 19.

The deceased are identified as Gajabai Ingale (59), Swapnil Dogale (4), Krishna Ingale (4), Phoolchand Dharme (52), Varsha Dogale (28), Sanjay Ingale (34), Kanthabai Ingale (55) and Sagajabai Aland (55). Two of the injured are said to be critical.

The victims who were the residents of Panchamahal, Paadoli and Kanagara villages in Osmanabad district of Maharashtra were travelling in the MUV to Dattatreya temple in Devala Ganagapura in Afzalpur taluk from Panchamaha. As many as 22 people were in the MUV. The lorry was on its way to Aland from Kalaburagi when the accident took place. Five among the injured are shifted to district hospital while nine others are admitted to a private hospital in Aland.

District incharge Minister Sharanprakash Patil, who visited the injured, said that the doctors had been instructed to provide the best treatment. He also informed that the government will foot the medical bills of those admitted to private hospitals. About compensation, Patil said that as the victims were from Maharashtra, the decision will made as per law.
