Koppal: In a heart-wrenching incident, two boys were buried in stagnant water of an estuary in a low-lying area on the outskirts of Rampura Village in the Taluk.
The recent rains had led to waterlogging in a low-lying area near Vakkandurga adjacent to the farm of Devendrappa Madagere in Rampura Village.
Mahantesh Mallappa Madar (10) and Vijay Parasappa Madar (10), along with two others, had gone to wash the cattles in view of Diwali school holidays.
Meanwhile, Mahantesh and Vijay accidentally slipped and drowned. The two boys, who were on the shore, immediately informed the villagers.
Locals rushed to the spot. However, the two died while being lifted up. They have been brought to Kushtagi Government Hospital for post-mortem.
The tragic death of two children during Diwali has left the family in a state of shock. A case has been registered at Hanumansagara Police Station.
