Raichur: State Minister for Primary and Secondary Education and Raichur District In-charge Minister Tanveer Sait appears to have violated the Road Transport Authority (RTA) rules blatantly and the faulty number plate on his official car is the glaring example for all to see.
The minister has cleverly employed a method, where he has inscribed the vehicle registration number KA 52 GA 0009 in two languages, Kannada and English to hoodwink RTA and police. The numbers in Kannada are legible and fall well within RTA regulations whereas the number plate in English is undoubtedly faulty.
RTA officials and police, who make every effort to penalise vehicle owners including two-wheeler riders appear to have closed their eyes in this case.
A meagre fine of Rs 100 for using faulty number plates may not dent the pockets of the violators nor help state coffers swell but definitely sets a bad precedent, indicating that the high and mighty go scot-free even after violating stipulated rules blatantly.
