Raichur: An RTPS labourer protested sitting on the chimney of the centre. Despite working from past many years, there has been discrimination in the distribution of wages and benefits, he said.
In a nearly eight-minute-long video, the labourer explained all the problems in a threadbare manner. Working in the mill maintenance department, the people have witnessed our difficulty. Even though Government employees and contract workers work in the same place, there is a huge gap in the facilities, he expressed.
He desperately said that “I am being harassed by the contractor for raising the issue with the KPC MD. We don’t have the freedom to ask for our rights. We would not have to do this if we had been taken care of by the company while awarding the contract and kept an eye on the company, he alleged.
He sat on a chimney demanding that his needs are met immediately. Officials who have visited the spot persuaded him to give up his protest. On the other hand, contract workers have started a struggle.
