Vijayanagara: Though rains have receded this North Karnataka District in State, the floods have created troubles for this District as the rivers in the region are overflowing due to heavy rains from past many weeks.
Release of huge quantity of water from dams have created more trouble. On Tuesday August 9, the inflow into Tungabhadra Dam near Hosapete in the District stood at 1.36 lakh cusec while as much as 1.58 lakh cusec of water was released from the reservoir. The water level in the dam is 1,623 feet as against the maximum level of 1,633 feet.
Police has been deployed on the banks of the river for safety.
