Vijayanagara: Two boys drown in river at Hampi

Vijayanagara: Two youth, who had gone for a swim in the world famous river in Hampi, were washed away in the water on Wednesday December 28.

Harish (18) and Jeevan (18), both natives of Bengaluru, were washed away in the river. The youth, who had gone on a trip to Hampi with their friends, went for a swim in the river flowing near Purandara Dasa’s Mandapam.

The youth, who had come to Ballari on Tuesday December 27 on the occasion of their friend’s birthday, had visited Hampi along with eight friends. During this time, they went into the water to swim in the river passing near Purandara Mandapam. They could not come out of the water and was buried in the water.

The Hampi Police, Fire Brigade Personnel and skilled swimmers have launched a search for the missing youth.

A case has been registered at Hampi Police Station.
