Chikkamagaluru: Areca black spot disease, upset farmer ends life

The body of a boy (17) was found in south Delhi’s forest area on Saturday, an official said.He said that a probe has been initiated in the incident.

Chikkamagaluru: A farmer ended his life on November 27, after being depressed over blackspot disease in areca plantation.

The deceased has been identified as Shankaregowda (55), a resident of Nasuguni village of Kalasa Taluk.

According to sources, his four-acre arecanut plantation became completely infected with the black spot disease. This made him depressed.

Shankaregowda informed his family on Sunday that he was going to the farm and would be back soon. Later, his family found him hanging in a forest near the farmland.
