Chikkamagaluru: On the occasion of Datta Jayanti, MLA C.T. Ravi went door-to-door and took alms on Wednesday December 7.
He went collecting alms on Basavanahalli Main Road, Raghavendra Matha Road, and Narayanapura in the City. Through begging, he also collected padi from the maladharis. On this occasion, the locals offered coconuts, bananas, rice, betel nut and jaggery.
The alms are collected to offer Dattatreya Swamy in the form of Irumudi. Datta Jayanti will be held at Dattatreya Peetham on Thursday December 8.
A high alert was sounded across the District and security has been beefed up in the City.
