Chikkamagaluru: A 45-year-old woman was killed by a wild elephant n the Hulemane Kundur village of Mudigere Taluk.
The deceased, identified as Shobha Amritha, was attacked by a wild elephant as she was in the forest collecting fodder for her cattle.
Locals claimed that the herd of wild elephants has caused panic since they frequently stray into areas where people live.
Although the elephants’ problem had been brought to the attention of the forest department officials, it is claimed that they did nothing to drive them away. The locals have blamed the officials of the Forest Department for Shobha’s death.
