Chikkamagaluru: DySP Kallappa Handibag who was named as an accused in a kidnap case that led to his suicide, has been given clean chit by the probing CID team.
The CID which submitted its final report to the court has concluded that Kallappa had no part to play in the kidnap incident. A chargesheet has been submitted against 11 suspects already arrested in the kidnap case.
One of the prime suspects, Praveen Khandya, convener of VHP Shivamogga division has been absconding since the incident took place. He has been named as an ‘absconder’ in the CID’s report.
It may be recalled that, the deceased officer, Kallappa Handibag was named as the fifth accused in the FIR filed against him at Basavanahalli police station on July 4. During the first week of June, DySP Kallappa Handibag ended life after his named cropped up in Tejas Gowda abduction case.
