Chikkamagalur: Water spring in the foothills of Hemagiri in Kadur taluk has taken many by surprise as the area is drought prone with ground water levels decreasing by the day.
Sri Siddrama Deshikendra Swamiji of Yalavadu Samsthan was among hundreds who visited the ‘miracle spot’ on December 22. When people are failing in their attempt to extract water by digging bore wells beyond 1000 feet depth, the water spring on the Vishnu tank bund of the taluk has turned out to be a miracle, exclaimed Swamiji.
Some consider the ‘miracle’ as a sign of good times and expect abundant rainfall in the near future in the drought prone Kadur taluk.
People are digging in several places around the damp zone and are collecting water in bottles which they consider as holy (Ganga Jal) and are seen performing Special Poojas (Ganga Pooja) in the area.
