Mudigere youth missing, suspected to have joined ISIS

Chikkamagaluru: A mechanical diploma holder went missing in May 2013 has not returned yet giving rise to doubts of his having joined ISIS/IM, if one goes by the telephone calls received by his mother.

Ummar Farooq (25), resident of Kottigehara in Mudigere taluk of the district left to Bengaluru in early 2012 in search of a job after completing his diploma in mechanical engineering in DACG Institute. After reaching Bengaluru he informed of his well being, that the Moulwis in Masjid provided him accommodation. On May 31 in 2012, he called his mother and informed her that he was in Mumbai to propagate Islam. Incidentally, that turned out as the last call from his end.

Other 20 youth who left the town at the same time returned after some period where as Ummar has remained untraced till date. Ummar’s worried mother lodged a complaint with DIG of police requesting him to trace her son. With no whereabouts from his end, he is suspected to have joined terror organizations like ISIS or Indian Mujahideen.
