Chikkamagaluru: An environmentally friendly couple offered saplings as gift hampers to all their guests in attendance in a rare gesture to celebrate their wedding in a unique manner and create environmental awareness.
The wedding between G H Manavi, resident of Gowdalli in Mudigere taluk, serving as an assistant agricultural officer and K M Nagesh, resident of Kallalli in Belur Taluk, Principal of Morarji school in Byrapura, set a new example for the society and won accolades from all present at the wedding ceremony.
The environmentally friendly groom mooted the idea first which was gladly accepted by the bride. Inspired by her support, groom Nagesh swung into action and procured 2000 saplings from his friend Girish’s ‘Envirofriend’ organization.
Saplings of all types’ medicinal qualities including Rakhta Chandana, Bilwapatre, Bannipatre, Amruthballi, Guava, Neem and of curry leaves were distributed to each of the guests present at the wedding venue to wish the newlywed couple a happy married life.
Talking to reporters at the wedding venue, groom Nagesh emphasised on creating clean and healthy environment for the future generations and hoped their move will lead to promoting awareness among people who care for the environment.
It was a rare gesture in a unique wedding where a ‘small treasure’ was offered by the newlywed couple to all guests to cherish their lifetime.
