Chikkamagaluru : A new spice park will be established in collaboration with state government in Chikkamaglur in the land known for quality spices, confirmed Union minister for fertilizers and Chemicals Ananth Kumar.
He was speaking after inaugurating a Black gold league ( India ) Global pepper conference in Chikkamagalur on Saturday, November 12.
The Central government is planning to increase spice production to grab the top international slot. If the state government provides around 25-50 acre land then the centre will provide necessary knowhow to achieve the desired goal, he clarified.
The central government will establish the research centre, laboratory and necessary go downs and provide other necessary equipments to establish the spice park,he stated.
Chikkamagalur, hub for producing quality pepper throws open lot of opportunities for the development of spice park, he opined.
Exhibition stalls displayed latest coffee processing equipments, bio fertilizers, quality spices including pepper, coffee, ginger,honey and wine products at the conference venue.
Representatives from USA, Netherlands, Portugal, Srilanka and other countries participated in the three day conference.
