Hassan: Konanur Police busted a fake fertiliser selling racket on Wednesday October 13. It is said that the gang mixed red oxide into salt and sold it as potash for over a year.
As the fertiliser has good demand, the gang members Avinash and Anand got fake potash and other manure from Mysuru and transported it to Hassan. They sold it to farmers at credit and discounted price.
Acting on a tip-off, Konanur Police in Arakalagud Taluk stopped the Tata goods lorry and checked the manure bags. It is said that the accused have sold thousands of bags of manure since a year.
Sub Inspector Ajay Kumar seized 56 bags of fake potash and goods vehicle. The police has registered a case and investigation is on. Meanwhile, the police instructed farmers to buy manures from authorised dealers.
