Hassan: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President D. K. Shivakumar on Saturday February 25 condemned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks calling All India Congress Committee President Mallikarjun Kharge a “rubber stamp”.
Speaking to mediapersons in the City, he said Mallikarjun Kharge was holding the position occupied by other great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Jagjivan Ram, Rajiv Gandhi and others. Mallikarjun Kharge, who has been actively working as a leader in the Parliamentary system since 1972 till date, has been performing well, he said.
Shivakumar said the Congress Party was working under the spirit of the Constitution and making such a statement against a Dalit leader was unpardonable. Such a statement by Modi is an insult to the Democratic system. At a recent event, it would not be right to criticise Sonia Gandhi for holding an umbrella because of the scorching heat, he said and added that the party condemns any such statements.
“The Congress condemns the derogatory remarks made by Mallikarjun Kharge, who has served as a Municipal Member, a nine-time MLA, a two-time MP and a Rajya Sabha Member, who has grown up to be a Dalit National Leader, he said.
